Emergency response plan for propargyl alcohol

Prepare emergency response plan according to some characteristics of propargyl alcohol:

I. characteristics of propargyl alcohol: its steam and air can form an explosive mixture, which can cause combustion and explosion in case of open fire and high heat. It can react with oxidant. Heat releases pungent fumes. React with oxidant and phosphorus pentoxide. It is easy to self polymerize and the polymerization reaction intensifies with the increase of temperature. Its steam is heavier than air, and can spread to a considerable distance at a lower place. It will catch fire and burn back in case of fire source. In case of high heat, the internal pressure of the vessel will increase, and there is a risk of cracking and explosion.

II. Forbidden compounds: strong oxidants, strong acids, strong bases, acyl chlorides and anhydrides. 3、 Fire extinguishing method: Firefighters must wear filter gas masks (full face masks) or isolation respirators, wear full body fire and gas protective clothing, and extinguish the fire in the upwind direction. Move the container from the fire site to an open place as far as possible. Spray water to keep the containers at the fire site cool until the fire extinguishing is completed. Containers in the fire site must be evacuated immediately if they have changed color or generated sound from the safety pressure relief device. Extinguishing agent: mist water, foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, sand.

IV. precautions for storage and transportation: store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat source. The storage temperature should not exceed 30 ℃. Keep containers sealed. It shall be stored separately from oxidants, acids, alkalis and edible chemicals, and mixed storage shall not be allowed. It should not be stored in large quantities or for a long time. Explosion proof lighting and ventilation facilities shall be adopted. It is forbidden to use mechanical equipment and tools that are easy to produce sparks. The storage area shall be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and appropriate receiving materials. The "five pairs" management system for extremely toxic substances shall be strictly implemented.

V. skin contact: take off contaminated clothes immediately and wash with a large amount of flowing water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.

Vi. contact with glasses: lift the eyelids immediately and wash them thoroughly with a large amount of flowing water or normal saline for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.

VII. Inhalation: quickly leave the site to a place with fresh air. Keep respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately. Seek medical attention. 8、 Ingestion: rinse with water and drink milk or egg white. Seek medical attention.

IX. respiratory system protection: when the concentration in the air exceeds the standard, you must wear a self-priming filter gas mask (full mask). In case of emergency rescue or evacuation, air respirator shall be worn.

X. eye protection: the respiratory system has been protected.

Xi. Hand protection: wear rubber gloves.

XII. Leakage treatment: evacuate the personnel in the leakage contaminated area to the safe area quickly, isolate them, strictly restrict access and cut off the fire source. It is recommended that the emergency treatment personnel wear self-contained positive pressure respirator and anti poison clothing. Cut off the source of leakage as far as possible. Prevent from flowing into restricted spaces such as sewers and sewage ditches. Small leakage: absorb with activated carbon or sand. It can also be washed with a large amount of water, diluted with washing water and then put into the wastewater system. The waste shall be transported to the special place for waste disposal.
